LEARNING TO LOVE MYSELF

If you asked me if I loved myself at the beginning of 2017, I would have said yes, but I would have been lying through my teeth! and it wasn't until I was reading a few different empowering blog posts and online articles that I really thought deep about it and realised that I really don't love myself enough. and then of course, It got me down, thinking about how no one is going to love me if i cant love myself.. blah blah!! These negative thoughts may have some truth behind them but HOW ANNOYING! the negative thoughts do not help one bit, I just end up in a downward spiral if I dwell on the sad thoughts.

So, I started changing my thoughts daily (mind you, I'm not saying it was easy and it still isn't easy) and its just the little things that you can change about how you think, that can make all the difference in the life you lead. I saw a quote that I kept in mind, 'Its not about how you react, its about how you respond'.

When you start loving yourself, your whole outlook on life changes and the sooner you change the way of thinking the better! I try to keep myself inspired, think positive, create your own happiness!
below I have listed just a few things that have helped me and continue to help me with this rollercoaster ride called 'Life'!

Find your happiness
now you can find this in so many different things, its about whatever makes you happy.. then do it! whatever realises those happy thoughts, helps clear your head and just keeps you calm and at peace. I found mine in exercising again and reading books and photography. all three are my go to everyday (although, exercising everyday isn't the most fun lol I would be lying to you all if working out is my most favourite activity lol) but all help me to keep my mind clear and helps me feel a little better and more like myself.
I haven't tried it myself but my friends swear by meditation or yoga or even simple things like going for a walk once a day, having a long bath with some nice bath oils. anything that you know makes you feel better in yourself.

Think more positive
This is honestly, the most easiest of them all once you start doing it on a daily basis! honestly! if your one of those people that, when your having a bad day.. its a really bad day and one thing after another. this used to be me, and not going to lie, I do have my moments when I go off track a little bit but it doesn't last as long as it used to.
I started to not let the 'little things' bother me, if something doesn't go right, don't let it get to you just brush it off and think positive. don't let one little thing ruin your whole day!

surround yourself with positivity and happiness
life is a funny ol' thing isn't it!?
I say this because I realised so much after a while of changing how I processed things and how I lived my life. when I was trying to be more positive and try to change my life for the better mentally and physically, and of course with age, I started to see people for potentially how they really are.. and it wasn't always a good thing. it was/is hard when it happens, especially when you have been friends for many, many years, but how I see it, that's just life! life is hard and everything happens for a reason and everyone has their own path in life, + not everyone is supposed to be on the same ride as you - and that's ok!
doesn't mean I don't still love and care for these people, but just means that I just have to do so, from a distance. when you change your thought process, you just want happiness and generally good vibes around you.. sometimes it can also encourage others around you to change slightly .. but again, people will only change or adapt their lives if they want to.

Always put yourself first
Sounds so selfish doesn't it!?
well it isn't!.. when it comes to your own happiness and self love this is paramount! no one is in charge of your own happiness except yourself! people can have an affect on your happiness but its down to you how you deal with it! is something or someone isn't bringing anything good into your life then you have the control to change that, so knowing what is good and bad for your life is so important. its time to put yourself first when it comes to controlling your own life!

I hope some of these things help at least one of you, I just wanted to share something abit different and I enjoy doing posts like this because they are also a reminder for myself in the future.

3 THINGS I DID TO GET OVER A BREAKUP

I think a breakup, at the time, can seem like the worst thing that could possibly happen at that moment in time. well that's what I thought at least! and I continued to think this for a while and I just couldn't get past it. I really did struggle, I got depressed, I put on weight and I did things that I didn't normally do. It took me a couple of months, to finally start to move on ad begin to clear my head. anyways I am blabbing, I just thought that it could be a good post idea and a gentle reminder of how I
got through it, even when I really thought I couldn't.

Started going for runs and gradually getting into fitness
Any form of exercise helped me so much and it was the short runs and getting a fitness bike that kept my mind going. any time I felt sad/angry or any type of feeling, I would literally getting changed and go for a run or a walk, to clear my head. I now find exercise as a form of therapy and our body's and minds are all connected and I had to go through some deep pain to figure this out. so now I have got myself into the habit of, as soon as I start to feel stressed or low or having a shit day, I know I need to get to the gym or just do some exercises in my room. This is my top tip, as I found it works best for me.

Spend time with friends and family
when your first get into a relationship it is so exciting and fun and the butterflies are there and everything is new - best feeling ever when in the moment. but regardless of being in a relationship or having just got out of a relationship, some girls are guilty of neglecting their friends or not making as much effort as your normally probably would. a lot of time, it is harmless and not done on purpose but as I said before, honeymoon period is so real and we all get caught up in our feelings lol. so make time for your friends and family, make memories, laugh and just do things to keep your mind busy.

Get lost in a book
I do love getting lost in a book and I didn't realise how much this would make a difference to keeping my mind busy as much as it did. It took a couple books to find authors that I enjoyed reading but once I did, I was finishing books after 4 days. and plus, there are lots of self-help books nowadays that you can get lost in and slowly repair yourself.

I THINK I WANT TO GO TRAVELING!?

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Hi guys!
I have been debating whether to mention this on my blog or not but I just thought why not!? I wont be going till next year but I think it would be a good way to share my plans and research as I go along to help others, and it also allows me to get advice from people that know a bit more about this than me lol
I have only really the last few weeks finally decided I am going to actually do it lol and since then my sister has said she would love to come with me and experience everything with me - which I am so happy about!
We both have said a number of places we would love to visit and we have roughly decided that we would want to leave end of next year and plan to go with enough funds for at least 3 months and potentially do some work and earn some pocket money to stay travelling for as long as possible.
I have found some amazing blogs with amazing tips and tricks, that are helping with where to start with organising the trips and a few of my friends have helped me with starting planning and where to visit etc. I think I will do another post with how I plan where to start this adventure and other things that I have to consider.

Below I have left a few tips to where to begin your travels!
although, there are lots of things to consider, I have given you some that people have told me to think of first.

1. Think of when. give yourself a month that you want to start traveling and then decide where you want to go and what you want to see or experience in these places, so you can make the most of your time there.

2. Do your research! Look into any visas that you may require and if you plan for volunteering or working whilst in certain destinations then you will need to get all the required documents. and keep copies of all these sort of documents with a friend or family incase of emergencies.

3. Ensure you research an estimate amount of money you will need/want to take with you. and also remember than you will have to arrange to cancel or have money left in a bank account for any bills or direct debits that you may have to continue paying. or even try to get them paid off before you travel. and keep money left aside for plane tickets to return home, so no matter what you will always have the money there to get home.

4. Make the most of useful websites and Apps that can literally plan your travels for you or at least help with places to stay in the local areas that you plan on staying with. always ensure that you have looked for the cheapest flights possible ( Skyscanner is a popular one!) also keeping an eye out for flight sales that go on throughout the year could also help with reducing spending.

5. Try not to over plan things and don't research too much - simply because things could change and you may change your mind or take a different route. Ensuring your laid back to the idea of travelling will ensure you make the most of the whole experience! You don't go travelling to plan every single detail and run on a time schedule like you do when your at home living your 9-5 job, so live in the moment as much as possible and do things that you wouldn't normally do!

I will keep you updated on my plans people! I am so excited to start saving and making the most of this world we live in.

Till next time,
G x

FITNESS; HOW TO GET BACK INTO IT AFTER FALLING OFF

Just some quick tips and tricks of how I manage to keep on track on my fitness/weight loss journey! It is a constant battle and everyone has good days and bad days and there are so many factors that can influence your journey, so here are just some things I do to stay on track and get through the many factors that can challenge you.

Look back at ' progress photo's '
Remind yourself how far you have come and why you started to change your lifestyle!
Sometimes this is something people forget to do and it is a brilliant way to help you see the changes your body has gone through. I hate taking the photo's at the beginning but as I go through the photos from this year, it is an amazing feeling seeing how much you have changed!

Explore new recipes
Now people, I do love cooking and I would say I am pretty good at it. So, to me this is an important one because nutrition is at least 80% of weight loss. and some people don't realise this. I know it gets so boring sometimes, eating the same foods and not having enough flavour and you feel like your depriving yourself of sugars and all them good tasting things you used to eat, but trust me when I say, there are so many foods that are equally as tasty and a lot better for you than that cheeky McDonald's or Krispy crème doughnut or takeaway.
I don't want to drag this one on, because I could easily keep talking lol
but there are so many good healthy recipes out there, you just have to look, experiment and find something you like - you will be surprised to what you can eat when you make it homemade!!

Drink lots of water
If you have followed my blog since the beginning, you will know that any health post I have done, this is one that without fail, is mentioned! simply because it is so important!
There are so many benefits to drinking plenty of water and once you have been doing it for a long time, you will notice the benefits to your body. I found mine are that my skin is SO much clearer and healthier and it also helps me feel fuller when eating. try drinking water for a month and then have a glass of coke.. tell me how you feel after finishing!?

Trust in social media
In this day in age, social media is at its peak.. so take advantage of it!
I recently had a mental block on training, I just lost the 'get up and go'.. I would easily be persuaded to do something else rather than go to the gym, I was probably only training twice a week with a personal trainer and not eating as good as I could so I just started following new fitness pages on Instagram and blogs and even YouTube videos. I LOVE snapchat, and I think this is the best social media platform to be on at the moment, so I followed some new people on Snap. it makes a massive difference!
I think having health and fitness on your timeline is such good motivation and a lot better than having things that could tempt you into falling off again!

Plan ahead
Now this is one that I am not brilliant at, but I am always trying.
some peoples lifestyles just can't plan and prep meals and sessions ahead of time, but I think doing as much as you can to plan ahead is better than not at all!
planning meals and cooking on the weekend is always a good start. planning what days you will be training and what sort of training or booking yourself into classes a week ahead will help to motivate you into making sure you have the time to get down to the class/gym etc.
There are also, so many sites/fitness guru's that have meal plans to help you as well, so don't be scared to look into it.

Switch your training up
My personal trainer and also all the fitness guru's I follow online, cant stress enough about challenging your body - that's how you get results!
When your not shocking your body into different things or pushing yourself hard enough, this is when people fall off their plan. simply because, they are not seeing the results they want to see and some don't bother to push through it and try different things.
I found looking online at different work outs helps massively! (you can watch these whilst your training)
Try training with someone, a friend or a couple friends. or even get yourself a personal trainer - you will learn a lot from a PT.
Find a workout that you enjoy and then switch it up with weights or resistance bands! just so your pushing yourself.

I hope some of my personal tips and tricks help some of you! There are so many that I had to just narrow it down to these few.
If you have any, please do let me know!
Till next time beautiful,
G x
